The system (10) has a module (24) generating a torque signal based on a vehicle speed, and another module (26) generating another torque signal based on a difference between a predetermined vehicle speed limit and the vehicle speed. A summing module (27) generates an output torque signal based on the former and latter torque signals, where the output signal controls the output torque of a motor (14). The former and latter modules include a look-up table, where the module (27) sums the former and latter torque signals to form output torque signal.
