A CAD(Computer-Aided Design) system, a control method thereof, and a recording medium storing a control program are provided to reduce the number of drawings or management load by collecting spools obtained as internal data and sharing a shape drawing in a common type spool up to a small allowance. A 3D(Dimensional) layout control CAD tool(101) supports making a 3D model of pipeline forming a design target and provides layout data(102). The layout data is obtained by converting output data of the CAD tool or enabling the CAD tool to convert the output data. A pipe specification database(103) stores specification data of pipes. A data obtainer(104) obtains the data of the spool, a spool data collector(105) obtains format specific data(106) by collecting the spools of each common shape. A pasting and outputting unit(178) takes the format specific data and creates a table listing the spools of the same format which is output in the form of a file in which the table is pasted into a spreadsheet(107) or CAD data(108). The spool collector includes a spool discriminator(32) arranging the spools in number unit, a control point extractor(41) extracting welding, bending, and branching points as a control point, a rotator(42) unifying the spools to common layout and direction, a table maker(51) making a control point table as internal data(114), and a classifier(52) storing the shape data of each spool shape by comparing the control point table.
