<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line testing device and a line testing method capable of executing an out-of-service line test without causing communication disconnection in a main signal. <P>SOLUTION: In the line test method, a test signal is transmitted and received between transmitters 02, 03 to test lines in transmitter sections. The transmitter 02 is set to be an insertion/separation device that can insert the test signal into a data region and can separate the test signal from the data region. The transmitter 03 is set to be a return device that is connected to the insertion/separation device in series and returns the test signal transmitted from the insertion/separation device for transmitting to the insertion/separation device. In the method, light output is stopped at a client side IF of transmitters 01, 04 positioned at both the ends of a path executing the line test in advance before the execution of the line test, and the stop of the light output at the client side IF or output control by unauthorized signal transmission is canceled after the line test is completed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
