PURPOSE:To manufacture an Fe-Cr-Co type permanent magnet alloy having high sintering density and high magnetic characteristics by using powder contg. specified amounts of Co, Cr and Fe as principal components and having a single alpha- phase or alpha- and gamma-phases as at least part of a starting material, press-molding the starting material, and sintering the molded body. CONSTITUTION:Powder consisting of 4-15% Co, 20-35% Cr and the balance Fe and having a single alpha-phase which may be separated into alpha1- and alpha2phases or alpha- and gamma-phases is used as at least part of a starting material, and the starting material is press-molded. For example, said powder of <=100 mesh main particle size mixed optionally with powders of Fe, Fe-Cr, Co and one or more among Ti, Si, Al, V, Mo, W and B is press-molded. The molded body is sintered in vacuum or a nonoxidizing atmosphere.
