PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the security of an important time zone while lessening the burden of a monitoring person. SOLUTION: This remote monitoring system includes a moving robot having a detecting part for detecting the abnormality of a monitoring area and moving in a monitoring area and a monitoring center communicating with the moving robot. The moving robot includes: an abnormality processing means for storing the abnormal state in a storage part when the detecting part detects abnormality; a communication control means for transmitting an abnormality signal to the monitoring center when the detecting part detects abnormality; and a recovery processing means for executing the recovery processing for releasing the abnormal state of the storage part. The monitoring center includes: a center storage part storing setting information capable of discriminating a preset time zone, inhibiting automatic recovery; and a mode setting means for managing a plurality of operation modes including an automatic recovery mode of causing the moving robot to automatically perform the recovery processing. The mode setting means inhibits setting of the automatic recovery mode as an operation mode when the current time reaches the time zone of inhibition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
