PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing unit for a wheel support with a load-sensing mechanism which is relatively easily mounted after assembly of the bearing unit, and to enable to be permissible in accuracy errors of the mounting position. SOLUTION: The bearing unit 10 includes: a light emission element 41 and a light-receiving element 42 which are mounted at an end cap 30 fixing on an outer ring part 12; a light reflection surface 46 which can inject the light reflection of the light emission from the light emission element 41 to the light-receiving element 42, and is mounted and fixed on a light reflection part 43 fixed on a hub 11 so as to rotate together with the hub 11 jointly; and the load sensing mechanism 40 which detects the load, based on the light-receiving result of the light-receiving element 42.
