PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selectively synthesizing RfSR using water as a solvent without using an organic solvent. SOLUTION: The method for producing a fluorine-containing alkyl (meth)acrylate represented by formula (I): Rf-Y-(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>m</SB>-OC(=O)C(-X)=CH<SB>2</SB>is characterized by comprising a process (A) for producing a fluorine-containing alcohol represented by formula (13): Rf-S-(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>m</SB>-OH, by causing a fluorine-containing iodide represented by formula (11): Rf-I and a hydroxythiol represented by formula (12): HS(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>m</SB>OH to react with each other in an alkaline aqueous solution in the presence of at least one species of quarternary ammonium salts and a radical initiator having a half life at 30°C of not longer than 24 hours (in the formulae, Rf represents a 1-6C perfluoroalkyl group, and m is 1 to10).
