PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plunge cut shaving cutter for a wide externally-toothed gear realizing a plunge cut method and contributing to improve productivity, in the case of a wide externally-toothed gear with 30 mm or more tooth width, as is similar to an externally-toothed gear with less than 30 mm tooth width. SOLUTION: A serration cutting blade pitch (6) of a cutting blade is made larger than 2.4 mm, and a serration cutting blade width ratio (7/6), which is a ratio of a serration cutting blade width (7) against the serration cutting blade pitch (6), is smaller than 0.25. A large shaving processing volume is obtained by a small pushing load, so as to apply plunge cut shaving processing to a wide externally-toothed gear with 30 mm or more tooth width.
