PURPOSE:To obtain CO2 lasers capable of mode switching with one change-over switch by a method wherein a restricting means is provided between an electrode and a transmission mirror. CONSTITUTION:The restricting means 7 is considered in such a manner that the center hole comes as round as possible by an increase in mumber of blades. Al or the like is suitable for the material of the blades, and the diameter of the restriction hole can be varied by connection of said means to a small-sized stepping motor, etc. and by changing over a switch. For example, providing a three- step change-over switch and switching the diameter of the throttling hole as follows enable mode instantaneous-switching by a piece of electric-powered throttling means 7, which also can serve as an inner shutter. In other words, in the case of using the restricting means for the inner shutter, the throttled diameter is set small: the diameter is set at approx. 12m/m if it is required to lead out single-mode laser beams. If multi-mode laser beams are necessary for welding, the diameter can be set large. |
