摘要 PURPOSE:To enable to set attenuation force at a plurality of steps by a small device, by a method wherein an actuator assembly for adjusting attenuation force step by step is built in a shock absorber piston rod which controlls electrification to its coil. CONSTITUTION:The inside of an outer shell 21 of a shock absorber is provided with a built-in inner cylinder 25, and the cylinder 25 is so constituted that it is made communicatable with a chamber (c) between the shell 21 and the cylinder 25 through a base valve assembly A provided on the bottom of the cylinder 25. A piston rod 20 extending outward by piercing through a top wall of the outer shell 21 is inserted into the inner cylinder 25 and a valve assembly B including a piston 47 and a piston valve 43 is fixed to an inner end part of the piston rod 20. Then the inside of the piston rod 20 is provided with a built-in actuator assembly D for adjusting attenuation force step by step, which is constituted so as to enable to open or close bypass paths 71, 74 by a plunger 62 to be attracted through excitation of a coil 65.
