PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing device that prevents a user from forgetting to take a photograph, and to provide a display control method. SOLUTION: The photographing device includes: a photographing means which photographs a subject; a display means which displays predetermined information; a storage means which stores date information indicating a predetermined date and predetermined period information indicating a predetermined period; a date acquiring means which acquires the current date; a calculating means which calculates a difference between the date acquired by the date acquiring means and the date indicated by the date information stored in the storing means; and a control means which performs control such that when the difference calculated by the calculating means is smaller than the predetermined period, a content that urges a user to take a photograph by the photographing means is displayed by the display means.
