PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation support method and an operation support device for performing proper operation support by discriminating various arrow signal lights at high processing speed and low costs without degrading precision. SOLUTION: When the lighting of a red signal light of a traffic light attached with an arrow signal light is decided by an image processor 8 of an operation support device 1, a CPU 2 estimates that the arrow signal light is turned on. Then, the CPU 2 reads the traffic light data SD of the front traffic light based on self-vehicle location, and the CPU 2 decides whether or not the arrow signal light has been directed to the self-vehicle based on the object traveling lane data of the arrow signal light and the self-vehicle traveling lane on which the self-vehicle is traveling. When the object traveling lane data are matched with the self-vehicle traveling lane, traveling following the lighted arrow signal light is announced based on direction data showing the arrow direction of various data.
