PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for more quickly detecting a proper focus position, in a camera module. SOLUTION: A plurality of search ranges which are each defined by a pair of focal lengths and independent of each other are recognized (S1) and the search processing is executed to obtain image data corresponding to the shift of the focal length in a search range and search a contrast peak exceeding a threshold from the image data (S2 to S8). New search processing is executed for a search range different from the search range when the contrast peak does not exist in the search processing (S9 to S13), and when the contrast peak is detected in the search processing, the focal length corresponding to the contrast peak is set in a lens (S14).
