PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a commutation ticket processing system and method for accurately refunding money. SOLUTION: The commutation ticket processing system for refunding money of a commutation ticket having commutation ticket information before expiration and continuous commutation ticket information for the same route is provided with: a receipt part 14 receiving a commutation ticket, a reading part 15 reading the commutation ticket information and the continuous commutation ticket information from the commutation ticket received by the receipt part 14, and a CPU 11 calculating a refund amount based on the commutation ticket information and the continuous commutation ticket information read by the reading part 15.
