PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movable coil type linear motor having a simple structure and improved in the cooling efficiency. SOLUTION: A coil member 5 has a molding member 6 encapsulating a polyphase coil 7 with a resin mold and having a rectangular cross section, and a jacket 8 fixed on both surfaces of the molding member 6; the jacket 8 has an external circumferential portion 81 abutting against the surface of the molding member 5, and a center portion 83 surrounded by the external circumferential portion 81 and abutting against the surface of the molding member 6; the center portion 83 has a first compression contacting portion 831 facing the air core portion of each air core coil and at least mechanically fixed on the molding member 5, and a second compression contacting portion 832 facing a valid conductor portion of each air core portion; and a coolant circulates in a space surrounded by the external circumferential portion 81 and the center portion 82.
