PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display controller capable of increasing the number of displayable colors without requiring high precision for a driver nor increasing the circuit scale of a decoder. SOLUTION: A gray image data generator 34 generates gray image data which can be displayed on a liquid crystal display panel, a selector 35 inserts the generated gray image data as a frame image right before or after each frame of color image data, received frame by frame in order through a receiver 31, on the time basis, and a frame rate doubling unit 36 doubles the frame rate to the liquid crystal display panel.
