PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder free from danger of making sheet feeding unstable by a gap or clearance between the cassette section and the body of the recorder. SOLUTION: The cassette section 150 in which recording media (P) is placed is so built as to be detachably installed in a sheet feeder body (144). The sheet feeder (144) is equipped with a cassette guide face 212 to guide the cassette section 150 when the cassette section 150 is installed in the sheet feeder body, a control section 215 to guide the cassette section 150, a moving section 180 capable of projecting and retracting on the cassette guide face 212, and a second energizing means (170) to push the moving section 180 against the sheet feeding roller (290).
