The method involves heating a processing air circuit (2) with a maximum heat output. A thermal load of a heat pump circuit is measured. The heating is terminated when the thermal load achieves a predetermined threshold value. The processing air circuit with a heater (18) is provided in a condensation dryer (1) e.g. cloth dryer, for heating the processing air. A blower (19) blows warmed up processing air over an article (25) e.g. laundry. An air heat exchanger (11, 12) is provided with the heat pump circuit, and a control device (10) controls the condensation dryer.
