A method for producing powder containing a cationic surfactant is provided to prevent generating of caking, and to impart excellent physical properties to powder. A method for producing powder containing a cationic surfactant(b) comprises drying a thickened composition obtained by mixing water, an anionic aromatic compound(a) and a cationic surfactant(b), wherein the thickened composition is heated to 50-120 deg.C before drying. The thickened composition optionally further comprises a cationic polymer(c). The thickened composition has a viscosity of 50-500 mPa.s at 60-80 deg.C.
