<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for sufficiently suppressing deterioration of an electrolyte membrane and for enhancing durability of a PEFC, in the PEFC. <P>SOLUTION: In a membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell having a solid polymer electrolyte membrane; a cathode gas diffusion electrode arranged on one surface of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane and containing a cathode catalyst layer and a cathode gas diffusion layer, and an anode gas diffusion electrode arranged on the other surface of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane and containing an anode catalyst layer and an anode gas diffusion layer, a chlorine capture layer containing a chlorine capture material is arranged in at least one of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane, the cathode gas diffusion electrode, and the anode gas diffusion electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
