PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized, low-cost optical receiver unit of low power consumption, capable of transmitting signals at a high bitrate of the order of 10 Gbps, for a long distance of 100 km or more without wavelength dispersion compensation.
SOLUTION: On an optical waveguide 4 for receiving a frequency modulated signal light at an input port 11 and for outputting it toward a first output port (through port) 9 and a second output port (drop port) 10, the optical receiver unit includes an optical filter 5 of a variable filtering wavelength, for limiting the above frequency modulated signal light to a predetermined frequency band, and for converting it to an intensity modulated signal light. The first output port 9 and the second output port 10 are connected to a first photoelectric conversion element 7 and a second photoelectric conversion element 8 so that a first component and a second component of the above intensity modulated signal light can be converted into electric signals. A controller 12 controls the filtering wavelength of the optical filter 5, based on the output signals from the first photoelectric conversion element 7 and the second photoelectric conversion element 8. The input signal is reproduced based on the output signal of the second photoelectric conversion element 8.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
