<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device wherein the occurrence of crackings can be suppressed in a wavelength selection filter layer. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device includes: an LED chip 10; a mount substrate 20 mounted with the LED chip 10; a dome-like optical member 40 disposed on the LED chip 10 mounted surface-side of the mount substrate 20 in such a manner as to surround the LED chip 10; a dome-like color converting portion 61 surrounding the optical member 40; and the wavelength selection filter layer 45 which is formed on the light emission surface of the optical member 40 and allows blue light emitted from the LED chip 10 to pass therethrough while reflecting yellow light emitted from a yellow phosphor which is a phosphor of the color converting portion 61.
