<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid useless printing, avoid waste of a printing medium on which an enlarged character is printed and save time by avoiding useless printing, in a printing apparatus equipped with a printing function for the enlarged character in which in order to print the enlarged character with a dimension exceeding the width of the medium to be printed, printing data of the enlarged character are divided into a plurality of printing data regions in the width direction of the medium to be printed, and respective printing data regions are printed by dividing them into a plurality of regions in the longitudinal direction of the medium to be printed. <P>SOLUTION: The printing data of the enlarged character are divided into a plurality of regions to print the enlarged character. In at least a specified printing data region A1 among a plurality of the printing data regions A1-A4 for printing on a plurality of regions of the medium to be printed, effective data for forming the enlarged character on the medium to be printed is detected, and as the result, when there exists the printing data region A1 where the effective data for forming printing of the enlarged character is not detected at all, the printing of the printing data region A1 where the effective data is not detected at all is not performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
