<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the speed or position of an elevator car using a sensor attached to the car. <P>SOLUTION: A rotor 0101 furnished at the periphery with a magnetism generating means is positioned confronting a guide rail 0102 with a certain spatial distance held in between, the guide rail being furnished alike with a magnetism generating means 0103. The rotor 0101 moving in the shaft in interlocking with the car rolls with magnetic force.
