PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting coil formed by winding a belt-like superconducting wire, which reduces an effect receiving from a magnetic field generated by the coil itself by improvement in a way of winding a superconducting wire to efficiently exert characteristics of the superconducting coil. SOLUTION: The belt-like superconducting wire is wound to a spool to form a subcoil. Rows of such subcoils are arranged along the axial direction of the spool and connected electrically in sequence, or the superconducting wire of a continuous form is wound to the spool to form the rows of the subcoils. On the subcoils at the central position of the spool in the axial direction, the wider face of the superconducting wire is set parallel with the axis of the spool. On the subcoils at least at both ends of the spool in the axial direction, however, the wider face of the superconducting wire on the inner periphery side is set inclined with respect to the axis of the spool while the wider face of the superconducting wire on the outer periphery side is set vertical to the axis of the spool in a change of a winding direction to set the wider face of the superconducting wire parallel with the direction of a magnetic field generated at AC current application.
