PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyimide film excellent in the surface quality, that is, the surface of the film has no defects and pickings over a great length. SOLUTION: This polyimide film has, on its surface, a number of defects, wherein roughness is≥0.1μm and an area is≥0.2 mm<SP>2</SP>, of≤30/1,000 m<SP>2</SP>and a number of pickings, wherein roughness is≥0.1μm and width is≥0.1μm of≤1/100 m<SP>2</SP>. When a gel film containing a polyamide acid is heat-treated after being stretched using a transport roll, the polyimide film can be produced using a transport roll, in which a roll surface is composed of a fluororesin layer, center line mean roughness of the surface is 0.03-0.55μm, the maximum roughness is≤4.0μm, and a water contact angle is≥80 degree.
