PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set an appropriate shifting period to a power saving mode even when the print of two or more pieces of image data requiring either long or short print processing period is executed. SOLUTION: A print part 5 prints the image data; a state detection part 7 detects a print state immediately before in the print part 5, the number of print sheets or a print operation period for instance, and a mode switching part 9 switches and controls the print part 5 from a normal mode to the power saving mode at reference timing. The mode switching part 9 sets a power saving mode shifting period using the shifting period of the previous time to the power saving mode for which mode switching is set on the basis of a detected print state relating to print image data before the print image data immediately before; the shifting period of this time to the power saving mode for which mode switching is set on the basis of the detected print state relating to the print image data immediately before, and an elapsed time from the mode switching timing of the previous time to the print end of the print image data immediately before.
