PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit which can detect a magnifying factor of an avalanche photodiode (APD). SOLUTION: The circuit for detecting the magnifying factor is equipped with an avalanche photodiode 11, a photodiode which is located so as to receive the same amount of light to the avalanche photodiode and has no magnifying operation, and a comparison means which is located so as to output an amount of current corresponding to the difference between the magnified current outputted from the avalanche photodiode and the current outputted from the phtodiode.
