摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting apparatus and a manufacturing method capable of forming an organic EL device that is superior in light emission characteristics or reliability as a metal substrate, without drastically increasing the manufacturing cost, even when using a metal substrate as a base material. SOLUTION: The base material of the light-emitting apparatus 1 is a metal substrate 11, an organic EL device 10 is formed with a function layer 13, containing at least an organic light-emitting layer and a cathode layer 14 sequentially laminated on the surface of a nickel plated layer 12, formed by nonelectrolytic plating on its surface. The metal substrate 11 is superior in a heat radiation properties, and is also easy to handle. Since the metal substrate 11 is capable of carrying out plastic deformation, it can be used in deformation in various shapes. Furthermore, since the nickel plating layer 12 has a smooth surface, different from that of the metal substrate 11, it is not necessary to smooth it by polishing or SOG technology, so that it has high work function similar to ITO.
