PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce size of an electrooptical device in an X-direction by eliminating the need for a Y driver in the electrooptical device. SOLUTION: A longitudinal shift register 200 and a latch circuit 300 are provided for each column. Once image data of one picture are stored in transfer unit circuits (register) RY of respective stages of the longitudinal shift register, a latch pulse (YSFT) is made active to latch the image data held in the transfer unit circuits (RY) of the respective stages in a latch element circuit (RL) in parallel.
