PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide one-side welding equipment and method, wherein welding quality is improved by eliminating aiming deviation of a welding torch in the terminating part of a weld zone, aiming adjustment work by troublesome manual operation is not required, and fully automatic welding operation is made possible. SOLUTION: The one-side welding equipment 1 includes a travelling rail 11, welding torch 2, welding travelling truck 4, travelling rail transfer means 5, truck moving means 6, groove profiling sensor 3, and a welding position control part 9. The welding position control part 9 comprises a storage means 9A for storing a positional coordinate of the welding torch 2, a weld line inclination calculating part 9B for computing inclination of a weld line based on the positional coordinate, and a truck movement processing part 9E which controls movement of the welding travelling truck 4 in a transverse direction YL based on a deviation of a groove until the groove profiling sensor 3 reaches the end of the weld starting side of a sealing bead S, and which, after the reach at the end of the weld starting side, controls movement in the transverse direction YL based on the inclination of the weld line determined by the weld line inclination calculating part 9B.
