PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray radiographic apparatus that specifies radiation irradiation volume measuring position with accuracy for the bodily region of a subject concerned, and generates its desired radiographic image. SOLUTION: As a radiography imaging device, a mammography apparatus 12 is provided with an automatic exposure control system comprising a radiation source 33 to irradiate radiation, an AEC sensor 49 to detect radiation irradiated from the radiation source 33 and obtain the information of radiation dose used in the control of exposure, a mammary gland specifying means 80 to specify the position of mammary glands as a subject's bodily region concerned from radiation dose information acquired by the AEC sensor 49, and a radiation source controller 76 to control the radiation dose to be irradiated at the specified position of mammary glands from the radiation source. The automatic exposure control (AEC) system is further provided with an ineffective region determining means 90 that supplies the mammary gland specifying means 80 with the ineffective region information that will nullify a part of the radiation dose information belonging to a region D2 out of a radiation detecting region D where the radiation dose information is detected.
