The system has a wiper that is driven by a drive device for executing a wiping process for cleaning a windscreen of a motor vehicle. A control device activates the drive device for executing the process at selected wiping time points. The time points are determined by the control device depending on a time parameter. A setting device i.e. gearshift, presets the parameter in the control device by a user of the vehicle for setting the time parameter depending on a temporal distance between two preset operating actions of the user when a programming action is executed by an execution unit.
