APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SELECTING RETRANSMISSION PACKET IN MULTIPLE INPUT MULTIPLE OUTPUT WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and an apparatus for selecting a retransmission packet in a MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) wireless communication system are provided to improve a decoding success probability of an initial packet by actively determining retransmission order combinations of transmission packets. A transmitter side device transmits packets using plural transmission antennas and includes a receiver(410), a selector(412), a buffer(402), and transmitters(408-1 to 408-N). The receiver receives an ACK(ACKnowledgement) message or a NAK(Negative ACKnowledgement) message for a transmission packet. The selector updates a retransmission order of the stored packets according to the ACK or NAK message and selects the packet to be transmitted according to the updated packet retransmission order. The buffer stores the packets to be transmitted and outputs the selected packet. The transmitters transmit the packets from the buffer through corresponding antennas.
