A process for producing carbon nanotubes is provided to enable progress of the process without petroleum spending, to reduce energy consumption, and to produce carbon nanotubes having proper purity for a demand of industrial applications. A method for producing carbon nanotubes includes the steps of: (a) synthesizing alcohol by fermentation of at least one vegetable material, selectively purifying the obtained product; (b) dehydrating the alcohol of the step (a) in a first reactor(3) to produce a mixture of alkene and water, selectively purifying the obtained product; (c) introducing the alkene into a fluidized bed of a powdered catalyst at 450-850 °C in a second reactor(7), wherein the catalyst comprises at least one catalytic metal carried on an inactive solid support, and crystal particles of the catalyst have d50 smaller than 300 micron; (d) bringing the produced alkene of the step (b) into contact with the powdered catalyst of the step (c) to form carbon nanotubes and hydrogen on the surface of the catalyst by catalytic decomposition of the alkene, selectively performing the reaction in the fluidized bed; and (e) recovering the carbon nanotubes produced in the step (d). Further, the step (c) or (d) is performed at the second reactor continuously and at the same time.
|
