<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a performance device and a program for attaining its control method, capable of reproducing a music piece by changing over music pieces without breaking rhythm of exercise or dance, even when a user is performing the exercise or the dance according to the rhythm of the music piece. <P>SOLUTION: If reproduction of the music piece is changed to a following music piece B soon after music selection is instructed, a beat position of a preceding music piece A is not coincident with that of the following music piece. Thereby, as shown in (b), after the reproduction of the music piece reaches the beat position of the preceding music piece A, it is changed to the following music piece B. When the reproduction of the music piece is changed to the following music piece, a predetermined preparation period (for example, one sec.) is required. Thereby, the beat position which comes first after the preparation period from music selection instruction, is obtained as a changing position of the preceding music piece A, that is, the beat position X.
