PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device capable of uniformizing an electrified amount of toner on an intermediate transfer body even with simple constitution and securing uniform transferability all over the printing surface, and an image forming apparatus equipped therewith. SOLUTION: The transfer device is equipped with: the intermediate transfer body having multi-layer structure including a conductive layer to which a toner image on an image carrier is primarily transferred; and a secondary transfer means to secondarily transfer the toner image on the intermediate transfer body to transfer material. The transfer device is provided with a pre-secondary-transfer electrifying means to electrify the toner before secondary transfer on the intermediate transfer body to have a reverse polarity, so as to make the electrifying polarity of the toner reverse just before the secondary transfer means. Then, the secondary transfer means applies secondary transfer bias having a reverse polarity to primary transfer bias applied in primary transfer to the toner on the intermediate transfer body.
