PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nucleus for pearls to be used for culturing pearls emitting a minute mount of radiation and having excellent affinity for pearl oyster, a method for producing the same and the pearls produced using the same. SOLUTION: The nucleus for pearls is prepared by adding a radioactive material to a natural nucleus material or an artificial nucleus material comprising at least one species selected from calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate and apatite as a main ingredient. In the nucleus for pearls, the artificial nucleus material can be constituted of a sintered compact comprising calcium phosphate and/or apatite as main ingredients or a sintered compact comprising calcium carbonate as a main ingredient, or the natural nucleus material or the artificial nucleus material can be constituted to be integrated with the radioactive material as a sintered compact or by using an adhesive.
