A speaker attenuation system includes an attenuating member comprised primarily of open cell foam or other suitable material and having a size and a shape operable to attenuate a speaker when positioned in a central beam region of the speaker. A positioning mechanism positions the attenuating member predominantly in the central beam region of the speaker by attaching the attenuating member to the speaker.
