<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerizable liquid crystal compound excellent in mechanical strength and having excellent solubility with other liquid crystal compounds. <P>SOLUTION: The polymerizable liquid crystal compound is represented by general formula (I), for example, 2-[4-[4-[6-(acryloyloxy)hexyloxy]benzoyloxy]phenyl]ethyl 4-[4-[6-(acryloyloxy)hexyloxy]benzoyloxy]-3-methoxybenzoate. As the polymerizable liquid crystal compound is excellent in mechanical strength and having excellent solubility with other liquid crystal compounds, so the compound is useful as a constituent of liquid crystal compositions. And, as the polymerizable liquid crystal composition comprising the polymerizable liquid compound as a constituent can produce optically anisotropic products having excellent mechanical strength and excellent optical properties, so the composition is useful for applications such as a polarizing plate and a retardation plate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
