PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum for a superconducting cable capable of easily carrying out a pressure test without damaging the cable even if carrying out the pressure test with the superconducting cable wound around the drum. SOLUTION: This drum 2 for the superconducting cable to wind the superconducting cable 1 around it is furnished with; a cylindrical drum part 31 around which the cable 1 is wound; collar parts 32 formed on both ends in the axial direction of the drum part 31; a plurality of presser plates 4 to cover the whole of the superconducting cable wound around by one stage and to avoid movement of the cable in a direction to extend winding and; a fastening belt 5 arranged outside the presser plates and to fasten the presser plates. Additionally, it is possible to form a closed space by the presser plates 4 and a shelf part 33 by providing the shelf part 33 on the inside of the collar parts 32 in an overall periphery of both end parts of the drum part 31.
