PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device in which barrier ribs to regulate a membrane forming region can be formed with high precision and provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: For manufacturing an electro-optical device, after barrier ribs 112 are formed, a liquid composition is coated on an inner side of the barrier ribs 112 and dried and a hole injection-transport layer of a light emitting element and a light emitting layer are formed. When these barrier ribs 112 are formed, after a resin layer of acrylic resin and polyamide resin for forming a first barrier rib layer 112a is formed, a second barrier rib layer 112b composed of fluorine acrylic resin and fluorine polyamide resin is formed on a upper layer of the resin layer, and the second barrier rib layer 112b is masked and undergoes a dry-etching, and the first barrier rib layer 112a is formed on a lower layer side of the second barrier rib layer 112b.
