PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately perform an automatic editing on a video/audio recording signal recording a television broadcast program or the like so that the unnecessary part is not reproduced. SOLUTION: From a video/audio storage medium 11 recording thereon a serial drama or the like in television broadcast programs, a video image/audio of the first installment is played back, editing such as indexing or chaptering is performed at a desired position of the recording signal by a video/audio editing section 16 and while storing on an editing information storage medium 18 editing information such as audio frequency distribution information of a dividing point obtained at an audio feature sampling section 17, dividing point number, the lapse of time from the head of the dividing point and the like, recording signals of second and following installments are automatically edited based on the editing information for the recording signal of the first installment.
