The arrangement has a connecting unit (1) insertable and held in an opening in a lining part. The opening has a larger length than that of a section of the connecting unit. The section is longitudinally movable in the opening, where the opening and the connecting unit have projections and retracted parts, which are assigned to each other. The connecting unit is held in a defined position in the opening of the lining part by the projections and retracted parts, and includes a pair of springy retaining clips (12, 13) that are arranged next to each other and at a distance from each other. An independent claim is also included for a method for fastening a lining part i.e. trim strip, to a laminar carrier part i.e. body part, of an automobile.
