A device for producing a long and linearly tearable plastic film having a large number of substantially parallel half-cuts extending in the lateral direction at least on one side comprises (a). a roll having at least one cam extending in the axial direction on the circumferential surface, and (b). a cutter arranged in parallel with the roll at an interval narrower than the thickness of the plastic film wherein the cam presses the plastic film intermittently against the cutter when the roll rotates to form the half-cuts in the plastic film.
