<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packet storage method enabling information necessary for fault analysis to be kept in a buffer over a long time, by efficiently using the buffer of a limited capacity. <P>SOLUTION: A packet check means 24 reads out a packet from a queue 14. The packet check means 24 checks whether the packet satisfies check conditions registered in a check condition storage 22. When the packet satisfies the check condition, a packet amount reduction means 26 reduces the total packet data amount by deleting predetermined data from the packet.
