PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to obtain an optical film, with various superior characteristics, which does give rise to troubles such as release during drying in case the optical film is manufactured from a norbornene compound polymer by a solution, and then, casting process. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method of the optical film composed of the norbornene compound polymer, is characterized in that a norbornene compound polymer solution is cast over the base with a layer containing a surfactant formed on the surface and dried, and then the dried polymer solution is released from the base.
