PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress poor lubrication of a sliding portion of a water pump in an engine cooling device. SOLUTION: In the cooling device 1 for the engine 2, the water pump 13 is arranged under the lower end of a water jacket 6 so that the sliding portion 13a of the water pump 13 is immersed in cooling water. A first valve 12 is closed to form a cooling water reservoir, whereby the sliding portion 13a of the water pump 13 is well lubricated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
