USER NOTIFICATION OF BROADCAST COMMUNICATION CHANNEL PROBLEMS

A method is presented for notifying a user (210) of a broadcast communication channel problem. At a broadcast distribution facility (202), a problem involving a first broadcast communication channel (206) from the broadcast distribution facility (202) to a broadcast communication receiver (204) associated with the user (210) is detected. A cause of the problem is ascertained at the facility (202). The broadcast distribution facility (202) then relays an indication of the cause of the problem to the receiver (204) over a second broadcast communication channel (208) from the facility (202) to the receiver (204). The receiver (204) informs the user (210) of the cause of the problem.
