PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make three-dimensional modeling of a building efficient by utilizing measured height data. SOLUTION: The height data is acquired by unit of mesh of several meters by laser measurement from an aircraft as for an area for the three-dimensional modeling. Only data existing in a building area stored in two-dimensional map data is extracted from the height data, frequency distribution is analyzed and meshes belonging to the respective hierarchies are specified such as a low hierarchy (white), a tower low (hatching) and a tower high (cross hatch). Next, the three-dimensional model of the building is generated by raising areas of the respective meshes according to the height data. Thus, a three-dimensional model in the complicated shape is generated with sufficient accuracy with a comparatively light load. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
